Filmmaking is not all about the glamorous or high action shoots - at the end of the day, it’s about the storytelling and this was one of our favourite stories to tell. Alistair Gray turned to alcohol and crime at the age of 27 when his sister died and ended up spending much of his adult years in and out of prison. The future was bleak for him, until he turned to the Saints Foundation for help and realised how much there was to gain from taking part in sports activities and the education programme. With the Foundation’s help, he stayed sober, has a purpose in life and is now on the way to a brighter future.
We only had a short time to film with Alistair and shoot him in action at the boxing gym, but during that time were really moved by his story and realised what a lovely person he was and the great job in which the Saints Foundation do.
